For our walls and ceiling, we chose pre-finished maple, which brings a warm, natural aesthetic to our living space. The light tones of the maple create an inviting atmosphere, making the van feel more like a cozy cabin than a vehicle.
For the core cabinets, we opted for a striking black hex material, paired with bamboo doors for a touch of contrast and elegance. The combination of black and bamboo not only adds a modern edge to the design but also ensures durability and functionality—key factors when living on the road.
Simplicity was at the heart of our design philosophy. We wanted a build that was both functional and beautiful, without unnecessary complications. SergSupply's materials allowed us to achieve this balance, providing high-quality finishes that were easy to install and maintain.
Building with Confidence

To ensure our van was not only stylish but also comfortable and energy-efficient, we used 3M Thinsulate and Havelock wool for insulation. These natural, sustainable materials offer excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, keeping us warm in the winter and cool in the summer, all while minimizing our environmental impact.
Powering Our Adventures: The EcoFlow 10kWh System
A key component of our build is the EcoFlow 10kWh power system, a unique 48V setup that stands out in the world of van life. The 48V system offers several advantages, including greater efficiency and reduced energy loss compared to traditional 12V systems. This translates to more reliable power for all our needs, whether we’re running the lights, keeping food cold, or staying warm on chilly nights.
With the EcoFlow system at the heart of our van, we’ve been able to integrate a variety of essential components that make life on the road comfortable and convenient. Our 12V LED puck lights provide bright, energy-efficient lighting throughout the van, while the Isotherm DR130 fridge keeps our food and drinks fresh, no matter where we are.
To ensure we’re prepared for any weather, we installed an Espar D2 diesel heater, which provides reliable warmth during colder months. For ventilation, the Maxxair fan keeps air circulating, preventing the van from becoming stuffy and helping to regulate the temperature. Additionally, we have 28 gallons of fresh water on board, giving us the freedom to stay off-grid longer without worrying about resupply.
Convenience on the Road: 110V Outlets & Starlink Mini
We didn’t stop at the basics; convenience was also a top priority. To make life on the road as comfortable as possible, we installed multiple 110V outlets throughout the van. These outlets power everything from our coffee maker to our toaster, ensuring that we can enjoy the comforts of home no matter where we park. For longer trips, an extra fridge is a must, and our 110V system handles it with ease, keeping our additional supplies cool for extended adventures.
Staying connected is crucial, especially when working remotely or keeping in touch with loved ones. That’s where our Starlink Mini comes in. This compact, powerful satellite internet system ensures we have reliable internet access no matter how remote our location. Whether we’re uploading photos from our latest adventure or catching up on work, Starlink Mini has been a game-changer for our off-grid lifestyle.
