A Season of Change, Renewal, and Local Flavor
It’s been a while since my last post—my birthday post, no less—and so much has happened since then. Between diving into a new role at Crux and embracing a well-needed period of self-care and exploration, life has been nothing short of a whirlwind. As I’ve been getting to know the Crux team, learning the ins and outs of the business, and mapping out plans for the upcoming year, I also made time to hit the road and reconnect with the simple pleasures of life.
Hitting the Road and Recharging
Before stepping fully into my new role, I took a breather—a chance to reset my batteries. My trusty van became my home on wheels as I embarked on adventures to several national parks, fished along amazing waterways, and even experienced the thrill of those rare, single-digit snow days in the van. Each journey wasn’t just about the adventure; it was a vital opportunity to practice self care and reconnect with nature.

Speaking of nurturing, we also welcomed a new friend into our “crazy fur-baby” household—Louis, our rescued dog. In bringing him home, I was reminded that sometimes, the ones we rescue end up rescuing us. By reducing excess and focusing on what truly matters, our lives have become a beautiful cycle of mutual care and support.
Embracing Local and Sustainable Partnerships
One of the highlights of this season has been partnering with Addictive Coffee Roasters, a local gem based in Marin. Founded by my old college friend, Mike Ralls, this brand perfectly embodies the spirit of community and local support that I hold dear. In a world that often feels dominated by mass production, choosing to support local businesses not only strengthens our community but also reinforces sustainable practices that are better for the environment.
Addictive Coffee Roasters has brought something truly special to my daily routine. Their instant single-use coffee brews are a game changer for life on the go. Whether I'm parked at a serene overlook or in the midst of a busy workday at Crux, having a delicious cup of Joe ready at a moment's notice means I can enjoy a quality coffee experience without the fuss. It’s all about minimizing clutter in the van while still indulging in the small luxuries that keep me grounded.
Self Care, Self Awareness, and Sustainable Living
As I reflect on these experiences, several themes emerge: self care, self awareness, sustainability, and the importance of supporting local. In a fast-paced world, taking time to focus on personal growth and well-being isn’t just beneficial—it’s essential. Whether it’s through solo van trips that let you soak in nature’s beauty or partnering with a brand that values sustainability as much as you do, every small choice contributes to a larger picture of a balanced and fulfilling life.
I’ve learned that resetting isn’t about taking a break from responsibility; it’s about coming back to it with renewed energy and a clearer perspective. The connection between nurturing oneself and fostering community is profound. When we support local businesses like Addictive Coffee Roasters, we not only get great products but also help build a more sustainable and connected local economy.
Looking Ahead
With a new role at Crux, fresh experiences from the road, and an invigorating partnership with a local coffee roaster, I feel more prepared than ever to tackle the year ahead. I’m excited to share more of these moments with you here on Nomatic Notes, where every post is a blend of personal growth, adventure, and the joy of supporting what truly matters.
Here’s to a year of mindful living, sustainable choices, and the perfect cup of coffee to kickstart every morning.
